Our campsite is set in a breathtaking location within the Snowdonia National Park, at the foot of Mount Snowdon leading to Cwellyn Lake and is the ideal base for exploring Snowdonia, with all of the facilities.
The campsite overlooks Cwellyn Lake and has spectacular uninterrupted views towards Mount Snowdon and Mynydd Mawr with various forestry walks on it’s doorstep. The river Gwyrfai runs alongside both camping fields to Cwellyn Lake.
We are a traditional mountain campsite, wild and wonderful (get back to nature with the birds and the bees and the bears).
Our modern amenity block is open 24/7 and is located on the first field near the main carpark. It has underfloor heating, free power showers and toilets, with eco friendly hand and body soap, vanity units with heated mirrors, drinking water fountain, coin operated electric sockets and hairdryer.
There are also outdoor sinks with eco friendly washing up liquid, drinking water and a laundry room within the main carpark with upright freezer, commercial washing machine and commercial tumble driers, spin drier and coin operated plugs and hairdryer.
We do encourage use of our Eco-friendly products to protect our environment All our products are plant-based and biodegradable, they are dermatologically tested, vegan friendly and contain no phosphates
There is no vehicle access to our camping fields which we feel makes it a safer environment for everyone.
You can park alongside or opposite the first field or in the main car park.
There is a boardwalk from the main car park to the lake. If you wish to camp in this field there are trolleys by the carpark, which can help transport your equipment down the boardwalk. Please replace the trolley after use.
Picnic benches are available on both fields, these are on wheels to help move nearer to your tent pitch.
When pitching your tent please be mindful of the correct distancing between your tent and other campers of 6M and 2M distancing from other tents in your group
We feel that a campsite is not a real campsite without a camp fire. We have, therefore commissioned numerous specifically made fire pits (on sleds), with a grill on the side for cooking / barbecuing. You cannot use charcoal on the firepits as this will cause damage. The fire pits do add to the general maintenance of the campsite i.e. cleaning out and complete removal to maintain the grounds.
In order to protect the environment and continue the provision of fire pits, you do have to buy our locally sourced kiln dried logs from us. Bags of kiln dried logs and kindling can be purchased at Cwellyn Arms.
No wood can be taken from the forestry or campsite or brought in from elsewhere. The Forestry Commission will prosecute anyone for removing wood from the forestry and you will have to leave the campsite immediately.
We do have a strict No Music Policy on site (if you want to listen to music go to a nightclub) and No Noise after midnight. No campfires or barbecues are allowed on the ground and definitely no fireworks.
Our Campsite entrance is approx. ½ mile from Cwellyn Arms
To walk to Cwellyn Arms will take approx. 15 minutes on the road or you can take the forestry road, which starts at the rear of the Farmhouse or from above the fishing dock and finishes at the rear of Cwellyn Arms, this is a longer route, if you are unsure of the route do ask when booking in at Cwellyn Arms.
CAMPER VANS WITH ELECTRIC HOOK-UPS (EHU’s)
We do now have campervan bays available in our small carpark, next to the first field: -
3 campervan bays with grass area for use of awning
3 hard-standing pitches without awning
CAMPER VANS WITHOUT ELECTRIC HOOK-UPS (EHU’s)
There is no vehicle access to our camping fields so campervans without EHU do have to park alongside the first field or in the main carpark, next to the river
Due to limited parking spaces we can only accommodate campervans during our quieter periods
Breakfast or evening meals can be arranged at Cwellyn Arms. We do advise to book for evening meals, particularly over week-ends, and breakfast does have to be booked and paid by the evening before.
CANCELLATION POLICY: - Camping bookings are non-refundable. We will however, with reasonable notice (minimu of 7 days), allow a ‘come again’ credit, to be used within 12 months of original booking. We do not give refunds because of bad weather as this is out of our control.
